What it means
Describes something outdated, basic, or trying too hard to be trendy — usually styles or habits that were cool a few years ago but now read as off. It's most often aimed at older millennial aesthetics from a Gen-Z point of view.
Examples

- She said my side part is cheugy, I'm devastated.
- Using too many emojis in captions feels kinda cheugy now.
- Skinny jeans with ankle boots? A little cheugy, no offense.
Where it comes from
Coined by Gaby Rasson around 2013 and popularized on TikTok in 2021, where it became the go-to word for dated millennial trends. The term itself was somewhat self-referentially short-lived.
